Adult  Learners

 What’s new this summer?

 

Kilmartin Glen

In July we are aiming to take a group of learners to Kilmartin to look at developing a project in this historic and famous Glen. The project will aim to develop and improve a variety of skills we already have. There will be a variety of opportunities to take part in either part or all of the project; as an individual or working with others.

 SQA ’10 Hour Core Skills Units’

In the autumn we will be offering the new SQA accredited ’10 hour Core Skills units’. These can be done individually, or supported through a study group.

The Core Skills on offer – which can be done as individual units, and can also be linked to many forms of current study - will be:

· Communication Skills (Reading, writing, speaking, listening)

· Numeracy ( - for level 2 - time, measurement, money, using graphical

· information)

· Problem Solving

· Working with Others and

· Information and Communications Technology (ICT or computers to you and me!

 


 

Numbers based courses

 A series of short courses aimed at supporting basic number skills, with an emphasis on budgeting.
 
Numbers 4 Life - The Numbers 4 Life sessions looks at basic number skills we come across in everyday life.

Credit Crunching/Budgeting - Looking at some of the basic number skills we need to help with our budgeting.


 

Reading/Writing/Spelling based courses

A series of short courses looking at various reading, writing and spelling strategies.

Creative Writing - The return of this popular short course looking at differentwriting styles and techniques.

Spelling it out -  Spelling can often be confusing. This short course looks mainly at improving our spelling Techniques and strategies.

Putting pen to paper - Getting started can sometimes be the hardest part of writing. This short course looks at developing writing skills for emergent writers.


 
Family Literacy courses - 

And a new course specially for families:-

What/How to teach my kids spelling - A new course aimed at helping parents what and how to teach their kids to spell.
