Where to begin?

Have you ever struggled to fill in a form, budget household expenses or help your child with their homework. Well, you are not alone. One in four adults in Scotland - around 800,000 people have some difficulty with reading, writing, spelling or the everyday use of numbers.

This figure shows how common an issue this is, so no one needs to be embarrassed about it.

The Big Plus To help remedy this Argyll and Bute Council and the Community Learning Partnership founded the "Switch on to Literacies" campaign in 2002. This links directly to the Big Plus, our national literacies campaign organised by Communities Scotland.

We all know someone who has an issue with literacy or numeracy or both. Maybe you don't know where to go or who to ask. We can HELP. Help is both free and confidential and free childcare can also be provided.
